On Wednesday, October 8th, members of the Tolono Fire Protection District visited Unity West Elementary School for Fire Prevention Week. Chief Humer talked with Kindergarten and First Grade classes about calling 911 in an emergency, having a family “meeting place” after evacuating, keeping our bedroom doors closed at night, staying low to the ground, and more! Additionally, members demonstrated donning our protective turn our gear, and demonstrated some of our tools and equipment.
Participating in these events and interacting with the children in our community is one of the highlights of our year. Thanks to Unity West Elementary for inviting us!
